API 5L X42 line pipe and API 5L X52 line pipe (seamless and welded) are available in two product specifications, PSL1 and PSL2, for each grade, which differ in terms of chemical composition, manufacturing process, mechanical strength, heat treatment, test records, traceability and so on. In fact, X42, X52, etc. indicates the minimum yield strength of pipe steel. X42 grade tubes have a minimum yield strength of 42,000 ksi and X52 grade tubes have a minimum yield strength of 52,000 ksi.
